The Kelkar Education Trust was established by Late Shri Annasaheb Vaze and his sons in 1979. The Trust was established for charitable purpose for the benefit of all persons irrespective of caste, colour, creed, religion, language or any other denomination.Any donation given willingly to the Trust, is eligible forexemption under Section 80-G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
Objectives of the Trust are set as follows:
- To impart education and educational facilities in its widest sense
- To serve the student community as a whole
- To offer and provide educational facilities, training etc to the needy and economically backward students
- To infuse sense of service in student community to train and prepare qualified educational missionaries who will serve and attend to the call of the poor, needy and distressed persons; and serve the country by making them useful citizens
- To establish, acquire, maintain and/or aid all kinds of schools and colleges
- To run, start/establish Higher Medium level Colleges (Standard 11 to 13)of Arts, Science and Commerce , Law, Business Management, Technical and Industrial Training Institutes or Colleges or Institutions having a curriculum of compulsory technical subjects or a Polytechnic Institution
- To establish,acquire,maintain and/or aid schools,colleges,libraries, hostels, research centers etc, for advancement of knowledge in general and Technical Engineering, scientific Institutions in particular.
- To establish and run schools for the physically Handicapped.
- To establish and run schools as technical schools or apprentice schemes for the mentally retarded and /or the physically Handicapped.
- To open a sheltered workshop for training the blind, mentally retarded and the physically handicapped and train them the different avocations of life.
- To Educate and enable the handicapped to choose their vocation.
- To enable the handicapped to carry out the vocation and self reliant economically.
- To run an Agricultural School or College.
- To impart training in Horticulture.
- To impart training in Handicraft.
- To establish, promote and give scholarships, freeships, grants, loans etc., in recognition of merit for the technical and Scientific advancement and/or to provide help to such research scholars.
- To organize seminars, conferences, conventions etc., with a view to advance the objects of the Trust.
- To publish and/or help in publication of books, journals, bulletins, pamphlets etc., with a view to achieve the objects of the Trust.
- To provide relief to the poor, for their education and advancement of any other object of general public utility concerning the educational needs of the nation.
- To establish and maintain liaison with other colleges, Institutions having same or similar objects and to affiliate or go get affiliation with other organizations and institutions
- (i)To carry out Research and Development activities in the following fields:
- Plant Biotechnology in general and Aromatic and Medicinal plant biotechnology in particular.
- Field trials related research in Biotechnology.
- Developing designs and pilot plant trials for utilization of research in biotechnology.
- Microbial and enzyme transformations.
- Biotechnology based techniques for pollution control and environment Protection.
- Protocols for plants of economic importance for rural development, social forestry and horticulture.
- Biotechnology, Plant Tissue culture, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, chemical Engineering, Quality Management, Food Preservation and other related areas,and
- Viable technologies which are of economic and national importance.
- For this purpose to establish a research center and development center, to set up research laboratories equipped with latest research equipments and machinery, to carry out the objectives of the Trust.
- To engage/ disengage scientific and other supporting non-scientific personnel and to pay them such salaries as the Trustees may decide upon.
- To establish and run diploma courses in Perfumery and Cosmetics and also other courses which will be permitted by University of Bombay and /or University Grants Commission or any other prescribed authority.
- To collaborate with other research and Development institutions having similar/related objects and to do all other acts, things necessary and be conclusive for carrying on such research activities.
- To do all things, acts and deeds that may be incidental necessary or conductive to achieve the educational aims and objects of the Trust.
Keeping in view the Objectives of the Trust Late Shri Govind Damodar alias Bhausaheb Kelkar established V.G. Vaze College of Arts, Science and Commerce at Mithagar Road, Mulund (E) Mumbai-81 on 20th June 1984. He created well equipped laboratories for undergraduate courses and state of the art laboratories for research and development. Scientific Research Center was subsequently established. The trust promotes Research by encouraging college staff to complete Ph.D. and later act as guide students for Ph.D. scholars. Advance Chemistry Laboratory and Instrumentation Center were added in due course of time to expand the scope of scientific activities & ensure all round developments.
Late Bhausaheb Kelkar, an ace industrialist and Philanthropist at the same time had a philosophy “No Business in Charity and No Charity in Business”.
Current Trustees follow the path laid down by the visionaries Late Annasaheb Vaze and Late Bhausaheb Kelkar.
The trust does not take any donations for admissions.
